Thursday, February 5th, 2004---Coast
Schools Slam (PAHS, AVHS, FBHS, MHS)
4pm at El Mundo on Main Street, downtown Point Arena
JUDGES---Beth Knoche, Miriam Owen, Wendy, Joost Romeu,
Once again, the poetry inspired all in attendence. And as expected,
the competition was tight: another close match between Point Arena, Anderson
Valley, Fort Bragg, and Mendocino. The old Pangea building was filled to capacity,
and everyone was listening as the youth spoke of their pain, joy, fear, and
laughs.

Friday, April 2nd, 2004---County Schools Slam (AVHS, FBHS,
MHS, PAHS, WHS)
4:30 at the Mathison Performing Arts Center, Mendocino High School
JUDGES: Barbara Burkey, Theresa whitehill, Karen lewis, Gerry Grace
More than an amazing slam, this year's slam also served as a scouting ground
for the Oakland East Bay Symphony's Words & Music Project, who selected
the Mendocino County High School Slam to join 6 other California Counties in
a statewide search for new youth voices. The teams delievered...nearly four
hours of expression to an astounded Lolly Lewis, coordinator for the OEBS.
