In My Pocket

I have a cell phone in my pocket
with a broken screen,
a broken screen.
I have a broken screen.
I wish I could see you.
I could see you smile once more.
It was hard to let go
but I was able to.

Really Mad

I am really mad like a chile,
hot and green,
ready to explode.
But when I calm down,
I am delicious and tasty.

Un Día

Un día, el amore s como el sol
radiante y brillante.
Al siguiente, ardiente, quemante
hasta matar de dolor.
También el amore es como la luna,
brillante y redonda.
Al siguiente, oscura y perdida
sin color.

One Day to the Next

One day,
love is like the sun,
warm and shining.
The next, burning,
hot enough to kill you.
Love is also like the moon,
shining and round.
Then, dark,
lost with no color.

En Mi Bolsillo

Tengo billetera en mi bolsillo trasero
pero no lleva nada
sólo la foto de la mujer que más quiero.
No es oro ni plata.
Es mi mamá, la mujer que quiero.

In My Pocket

I have a billfold in my back pocket,
but there's nothing in it,
only a picture of the woman I love most.
Neither gold nor silver,
it's my mother,
the woman I love most.

Word.

What are words?
They are but spoken breaths of air,
Once uttered-
Dissipate.
Not to be held in a hand,
For they are too light.
Too clear.
Transparent.
They cannot be seen,
Unless writ.
Cannot be held but in the memories and the minds.

What would it be like...
To see words, as they slip from the tongue.
What would it be like, to stroke the
Beautiful, colorful letters.
And to squeeze those that are hateful and arrogant.

Words are like the paint on an artist’s brush.
So small.
So simple.
But when manipulated to form sentences and phrases-
thus a pictureso powerful.

But who could trust something so weak?!
So meaningless and frail that the eye cannot even
Perceive?

Yet they are what we live by.
Promises and trends.
Communications,
Compliments and hurts....

Without them we are lost.
Mute.
Dumb to a word of meaningless static.

What are words?
But concepts:
Often sought
Often lost.
Seemingly infinite in their bounty,
Yet at many momentstoo few.

What are words?
They are powerful enough to start lives.
To build cities.
And to end lives.

Words arewell...
That was the question.
