I Feel Proud

When I go working at the vineyards with my dad,
I feel proud.
I feel proud of my hands
when they move the wires
on the vines.
I feel proud when I’m tired,
when I get a break.

Life is like a heart.
It won’t stop until it dies.
But, sometimes it stops,
and you lose the love you have inside. Your family goes one by one.
Then, you feel alone
with no hope of life.
But don’t let life stop.
Life goes on.

Life is freedom,
being able to play outside
anytime of the day,
doing anything you want
without getting into trouble,
being able to be friends
 with anybody.

Chris Guerrero

Y soy una mujer tierna
de donde crece el nopal
y antes de morir quiero
echar mis ilusiones a volar.

I am a tender woman
from where the Nopal cactus grows
and before I die
I want to free my dreams to fly.

Soy de alla y de aqui.
Alla tengo  el alma
y aqui mi corazon.
Alla tengo mis raices.
Aqui tengo mis ilusiones.
Soy de alla y de aqui.

I’m from there and from here.
There, I have my soul
and here, my heart.
There, I have my roots.
Here, I have my dreams.
I’m from there and from here.

No sera mi casa
pero es mi hogar
It may not be my house
but it’s my home.
Todos somos muy humildes
y trabajadores.
We are all very humble
and hard working
pero muy felices
cuando tenemos comida
encima de la mesa
but very happy
when there’s food on the table.

Mi casa es donde
puedo ignorar al mundo.
Donde puedo poner la musica
a todo lo que da y bailar
porque no me preocupa
que alguien me vea.
Y cantar con mi hermana
aunque no nos sepamos la letra.

My house is where I can ignore the world,
where I can turn the music up all the way and dance
because I’m not worried
if anybody can see me,
and sing with my sister
even if we don’t know the words.
