Radiance
Burning ball of gold,
you set the sky afire.
From my perch on the headlands,
I see Mother Nature paint the sky
after you fall into your neverending world.
The flowers close,
the sky darkens.
I know it's time to go,
but
I can't tear myself away
from the aquamarine waves
Falling, rushing, splashing,
melting into the glassy sea,
Tomorrow, I think I will return to watch
the dawn break and the flowers open,
tossing away their blankets of dew,
return to my perch on the cliff.

Ode to a Plastic Army Soldier
Oh the army soldier standing ready for battle
but never moving an inch,
spending your life ready to spring
but never doing so.
Black, blue, green and yellow,
Plastic men fighting for... well, nothing.
Just kids' enjoyment.
No one can talk to you.
No one cares about you.
They'll just blow you up with a firecracker
and then laugh and laugh.
Your life is wasted.
Your thoughts mean nothing because...
you're plastic!
Turned against each other by cruel kids,
forced to fight your fellow men.
Oh the plastic army soldier fighting for nothing.

Excitement
Excitement it wears
blue jeans and a white hang loose shirt.
Excitement speaks in basketball language.
Excitement eats watches,
dreams, shoes, clothes.
Excitement is like sharks, dolphins, fish.
Excitement hopes for soccer balls and basketballs.
Excitement is like stretchy rubber.
Excitement looks like the beach with sand,
rocks, waves, and seashells.
Excitement is someone kicking a soccer ball
and someone bouncing a basketball.
Excitement is like pencils, letters, paper
and basketballs.
Excitement fears Barbie dolls.

My Tiger In The Sea
This Tiger,
it flies out at me
as if to catch its prey.
It rides the crest of each wave,
as if we're playing tag
and the tiger is trying to get me.
When it is mad, it eats the
lonely boats who sail upon its regal wave.
It tears them apart with every splash and roar.
It is the splatter of white upon the tip of every wave.
It is my tiger in the sea.

Embarrassment
Embarrassed like a flower closing
gracefully
The man's face turned
as red
as an apple
when she kissed
him
The mermaid
hid
when she fell
in front of
her majesty
the Queen
The trumpeter swan's
feathers by an
unexplainable
magic
turned bright
pink
when he became
the center
of attention
We all seemed
to mentally fall
as they laughed
at us
Now you see we all get embarrassed at
some time in our life.

Forgetful
An avalanche,
So forgetful, in a bad way
Avalanche
forgets things people say
Avalanche,
you kill by the millions
Avalanche,
you forget and run on people
Avalanche,
get yourself away from people
Avalanche,
do you like to murder?
Avalanche,
or is it that you're afraid
Avalanche,
Stop and think!
Avalanche, oh avalanche
Oh Avalanche,
What happens to you when you learn
Avalanche,
you must not go to school cause you do seem dumb
Avalanche,
are you only a coward?
Or...
are you the child hiding in the corner sucking their thumb?
Avalanche, Oh, Avalanche.

Sadness
Sadness is a broken window
it creates, it cries, and it sleeps
in the cold with the wind blowing
around it.
It sometimes feels and seems like
it's crying.
like raindrops falling from the sky
it wears blue pants and a blue shirt
It stays on the beach with the
fish swimming in the ocean
Sadness is wonderful
Sadness is like flying through
the sky with no one else on
your side
Sadness is like flying through
the sky with no one else on
your side
Sadness is like a waterfall running
out of water.

Ode To The Moon
We look at you in the dark of night
With your pale light
Which glows greatly with you white earth
The birds try to fly to you
But the sun with blazing flames appear
And you disappear
Hours pass
Then you come back with your light
While the forest sings, what a sight
Your assistants the stars start to shine bright
in the dark of the night
But you are the best with your smile
While the stars sing like angels
And you sing, too, with beautiful music
I ode to you
I am glad you are here when I go to sleep
If you weren't here, what would I do
I feel so glum
To not see you
So tell me moon of great wisdom
How do you know how to shine with your sparkling light?
Up high in the universe
And you watch me when I lay down on my bed
But in the morning the sun comes up with blazing flames
And you hide away, since the sun came.

The wind shushes like the waves
When the night fights
He fights with no fear
when the night knows
he will be scooped up to a world
he does not know of
The night stabbed the ground
marked the world to be free.
He goes by the river
washing his hands
The Night sat down
in a coyote hole, thinking and eating,
saying, "How will my life end, will I die with a family?"
The Night said, "Will I remember my name?"
The he fell asleep and never woke up.
The last words were,
"The earth rules over me."

"Look close, Boo!"
Look at my eyes
shaped like an oval, but it
is not an ordinary oval
it is like a flood
from my warm, gentle tears
Look at my mouth
the expression of the breath
the wonderful smell of the bright
color yellow flower.
Look at my nose,
the beautiful green leaves
look closely.
Look, take your time,
look at my hair, the beauty
of the green trees look, look
look close...
BOO!!

Dream Life Poetry
Dreamy days, gloomy fog, gray
classroom, squiggly lines on the board,
annoying school bus, at home the smallest
room, dark alone night, morning rush
another gloomy day

Tengo rayo
para que llueva arriba en el cielo
para hablar con los muertos y vivos
Tengo un amigo que se llama Hector
y le enseña los animals.
Soy el rey.
I am the man of the forest.
My name is Comballo, the king of the jungle
I take care of all the animals of the forest
and when I gather them, I talk to my wolf
and it attacks them. I have Indian friends
to kill the predators, and I don't let them
kill my animals and eat them. I do magic
and tricks. I have a house made of feathers
and there I make my meanings
where I communicate with the living and the dead
I am made of lightning and fire. I have a bolt
of lightning so it rains up in the sky
so I can talk with the dead and the living.
I have a friend named Hector
and he teaches the animals.
I'm the king.

Delight Song of Room 37
I am the glitter on the crust of snow.
I am the ice of the skating time in the winter.
I am the fire bird that does not burn up.
I am the flames of the roaring dragon.
I am the deer who stands in the sun.
I am the heart of the world.
I can run and walk but I can't do math alone!
I am not the eye of the magic horse,
I am not the electric tentacle of the giant octopus.
I am good at one thing: helping others.
I am the golden edge of a desert day.
I am the leaves that grow from the tree.
I am the tornado that spins.
I am the sound of a bird singing.
I saw a tsunami and I saw a dog drowning in the tsunami and I saved it.
I am the king of the stars.
I am the wind in the morning.
Here is the cougar that hunts the cat
It's raining cats and dogs with lighting and thunder.
... I am the whole dream of these things.

War
War, a terrible thing you suffer a lot.
You get killed.
You miss your dad or mom.
You cry if they die.
or if they don't come back.
You feel pain in your
heart, or sadness.
You can't stop thinking
about them.

Silence Is
Silence is a fish
a fish swimming in the ocean
trying to get to the top.
Silence is a spider,
a spider knitting a web.
Silence is a star,
a star in the sky, waiting
for someone to catch it.
Silence. Silence. Silence.

Bells of Peace
Ring ring ring, bells so peaceful
like the rain
bells are like shadows
everywhere bells sound
like birds chirping
on a sunny spring day
bells feel cold
but sound sweet,
like hot chocolate in the microwave
they smell like iron
they look like fingernails
Come with us now
come to see the three golden bells
in the tower
then let the bells of peace
fill your world.

The Imagination Web
In the center of a spider web
lay a fly trying to break free
In the center of a spider web
lay a dream trying to come true
In the center of a spider web
lay a spider trying to sleep
In the center of a spider web
an imagination comes to mind.

Blue
I am the blues that's on the radio,
that flows through the house,
down the streets
where people lay without homes
only one box
that keeps them warm.
They need the taste of food
to keep on living on.
I am the blues.

Life
Life is when you go to your
room and lock your door and wish
you have a new life.
Life is when you have no friends
Life is when you love it
Life is when you feel like crying
Life is when you want to run away.
Life is when you like someone
but you're too afraid
to tell.
Life is when you're writing a poem
about life.

Me and My Bike
Me and my bike are like friends.
It is like my happy servant.
When he is sad, he breaks down.
When he is happy, he's fast, not tired.
He goes on all terrains.
He loves long bike rides.
We both take care of each other.
He takes care of me by taking me somewhere
and I take care of him by fixing him up
and putting him away.
He is one of my best friends.

This is What Fear Is
Fear is an arrow ready to go
through your heart
Your family's life is a big hole
through your heart
again
and
again
life
death
abused once
you have fear in you
you will have silence.
