A Mindreader's Torment

I am not who you think I am
I am not solely the kid you never talk to,
that does not describe me
I am not the kid that is afraid to talk to you
I fear only your response as I gaze into your eyes
I try to read your thoughts and I can
Why can't you read mine?
You think you know me? Not even close!
did you know I've watched you with fear,
afraid of the things you'd say when I was honest
a fear I've always had, and always will have
did you know I've had dreams of you?
dreams so sweet, I could never tell,
these dreams have plagued me like needles sticking
did you know I've dropped subtle hints?
these hints so enormous I've thought you must be blind
I dropped hints everywhere, surrounding you, enclosing you.
Everywhere around you
did you know I love you?

Rediscovery

your face is a study in fall
the curve of your nose follows the pattern
of the changing seasons,
your lips are the pattern of nature's leaves
the outline of your face is familiar,
but bears the essence of change
like the first autumn breeze.

I'd like to curl up in your cheek
like a collection of warm forest sounds
and drink the hint of question in your expression

I'd like to freefall into your eyes
let my stomach leap to my heart
as I'm pulled through the abyss
let me sink into the blue patterns
and get loss in their endless complexity.

allow me to be drawn into
your deep intensity
let me find it.
rediscover. Is it there?

Seven Ways of Looking At A Wall

1.
Blankly Standing
Was a plain wall

2.
A silent talking
is a loud wall

3.
Nothing sees all
except the staring wall

4.
A blockage of movement
can be the relentless wall

5.
Protruding, Protecting
was the sturdy wall

6.
people tell all secrets
except the faithful wall

7.
The stillness of everything
seven falls of the wall

All Of This Is Life, This Is What I Want

Those who want but are afraid
who knows the answer but can't bear the laugh
who speaks only when it's safe
who knows of only the semi-sweet chocolate cookie
always sweet and never bitter
whose originality extends only as far as the glow
from the city light's reach
whose world lays as shallow as the surface
The wannabee's but don't know how to be
Who think with trained, twisted minds
of government and drama
Those who need to be liked and thought of as hip
and with the times
But when their veil is lifted and reality
splashes and drips like cold water or fruit punch
they just stare
They stare with disbelief,
Then cry
Won't accept it, pushes away facts
and evidence, hoping it's all a bad dream
Those who retreat to the confinements of home
Who know not of true inner beauty
and the troubling spinning doors it unlocks and releases.
Feelings they never knew they could feel
and express and still be loved
Who never explored feelings and diverse possibilities
as intent as a child left to play outside
Who begs and bargains for more time
Who finds it and soaks up every drop.
