I come from the coast
on a lil' rez wher e I grow up
waking up in the morning
to the smells of the ocean salt
and the herb in the air
watching the hippies try to make a point
bringing our soldier's home
Indian I am
brown skin
black hair
I am proud of who I am
and where I come from

I come from a place
where no one wants to be
a boring place with nothing to do
some place no one knows about
a quiet place where no one's around
alone
quiet
just thinking of being somewhere
so I can kick it without being bored
being with my friend
having a good time
but for now
it is raining again
I wonder when it is going to stop
I wait for the day I finally get away

Emotion

All the eyes,
You can't hide,
Do you see them all around his neck?
The dull colors in the picture,
Fading into green and brown,
A man and woman, a sign of equality, sensuality,
The calmness covers the world,
The two moons like mars.
Reach out and collides,
Power and lighting,
Brings strong feeling
balance of positivness.

Main Street

I come from
A reservation
By the bay
I see stoners
All day
Smoking that Herb
That came from
The earth
I see smoke
Coming from
The boat
Friendly and peaceful
They all unload
Wandering nuts
Scrawny hippies
Smell fishy
Salty damp air
Angry teens
Bumming weed
And cigarettes
Crack heads
Trying to get a hit
On a mission
Just to get some shit
Fun parting
With my goofy friends
Watching brave surfers
Up and then down again
is this it?
a half mile strip

I am a soldier of my click
I wonder of the ghetto will ever change
I hear a lot of talk but no action
I want to see something new
I am a soldier of my click

I pretend situations are better than they are
I feel this?
I touch and think I can touch the invisible
I worry what other people think about me
I am a soldier of my click

I understand people turn into fake tricks
I say I believe in sins and repent
I dream of a better life
I try to change my life
I hope for something
I am a soldier of my click

I Am

I am
I am a young lady turning into a crazy adult
I wonder why people "be hating on me"
I hear the siren of a cop car
I see a flower trapped in the middle of the concrete
I want to be able to be the best
I am a young lady turning into a crazy adult

I pretend that I am invisible
I feel as if I'm going insane in my brain
I touch a spinning spindle
I worry of being alone in my home
I cry when there is bloodshed
I am a young lady turning into a crazy adult

I understand it is hard growing up in this world
I say take care of those who are lost
I dream of being a more responsible adult one day
I try to stay out of trouble
I hope to stay the way I am till the end of time
and never get old
I am a young lady turning into a crazy adult

The Never Ending Journey

The never ending journey
of colorful, bright, crazy chaos
wacky black holes
from the balance of life
a downward spiral of loving energy
from mother earth
destruction doing something good in the world
toxic waste crawls through
the world's veins
like a creepy, gross, yucky centipede
the color of deceptiong hangs
like stripes on clothes
a single worm makes all the difference
where is the balance of Good and Evil?
nurture the others from another mother
can you imagine
how close everything really is

Who Am I

I grow and stretch
each day awake
reaching towards a dim
lighted marshmellow sky
I dance with the
winds howling whisper
living on the breaths
sigh
I hold and feed
my friends inside
their playful dance
and chatter excite me
I'll just watch
until the day
moving freely, I can play
I never know when my
friend's will hide
leaving me to stretch
into the ground
I feel mother's nourishment
now
sleeping, waiting, storing up
I wait for new friends to
stir back up
stretching growing pushing up
I am the tree who stretches up

I Am

I am the wind and the shadows beside you
I wonder if the plants have feelings
I hear bells when I walk next to the one I love
I see the bright yellow sky with stars circling around me
I want to show what I really feel about life
I am the wind and the shadows beside you

I pretend to be a feather floating in the air
I feel a darkness trying to take over my freedom
I touch a weeping willow and we suddenly become one
I worry about who I will be in another life
I cry when I think about what my brother would be like
If I was not on this earth, but don't worry brother
I am the wind and the shadows beside you

I understand that we are not perfect
I say if we were the world would be a boring place
I dream of being a surgeon for whoever wants to try to be
I try to set a good example for my people
I hope you realize how much you mean to me
I will always be there for you
I am the wind and the shadows beside you

Tears For Tomorrow

The tears I feel today
I'll wait to shed tomorrow
though I'll not sleep this night
nor find release from sorry
my eyes must keep their sight
I dare not be tear-blinded
must be free to talk
not choked with grief, clear-minded
my mouth cannot betray
the anguish that I know
Yes, I'll keep my tears till later
but my love will never go

7:07 AM

It's the time
when I feel beast
every morning
when I wake up
I feel happy
this time in the
morning is when
the good music
video plays, it's luke
warm and makes me
feel radiant like
stepping out into the sun
from inside the house
this is the time
when all animals
start to stir and
begin their day
as well as the neighbors
my hour makes me
feel brand new, it sounds
like water trickling
over rocks in a shallow
creek, the lighting is calm
and relaxing. This is
my kind of time, the
time I most prefer all
day. It's 7:07 am

I remember a thunderbolt shooting out of the sky
like it was telling me that something is going down at that second.
I remember voices surround me
telling me to "get up for school".
I remember getting pointed at every time something bad happened.
I remember mom bring my baby brother home from the hospital.
I remember blacking out
and coming to, red from head to toe.
I remember her face, looking at me through the bullet proof window
red and blue lights flashing like firecrackers in the sky.
I remember the one I look up to telling me to "do good in life."
I remember reminiscing while sitting in a little room
with just a sink, a toilet, and a thin mattress.
I remember sayin' "fuck it, there's not a lot of time."
Life is what you make it.

I Remember...

I remember the day I got the phone call that my
nephew died
I remember exactly how I felt that day...as sad
as the family members who lost someone
in the war in Iraq
I remember, that afterwards, everytime the phone rang
I jumped out of my seat, scared to death.
