Student poetry and art work from Mendocino K-8 and Comptche School students is collected in Off the Page. Cover art created by Brice Burdick, Grade 8, under the mentorship of art teacher Mark Oatney. Poetry workshops were led by Karen Lewis and Emily Inwood during Spring 2012; Karen also edited and designed the book. Students this year explored free verse, odes, cinquain, pantoum, haiku and nature poems. The California Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, Arts Council of Mendocino County GASP, Mendocino County Office of Education - Young Authors, Mendocino K-8 Site Funds, and Mendocino Rotary supported the 2011-12 poetry program.
